By the time she was 19, she landed the lead role in "Flora, the Red Menace." This Broadway performance won her a Tony for Best Actress in a musical. In 1967 she went on to star in several films that showcased her superb acting abilities (Charlie Bubbles, The Sterile Cuckoo and Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon.) Her movie career peaked in 1972, when she played Sally Bowles in Cabaret. The film won eight Oscars, including Best Actress. The role also earned her a Golden Globe and a British Film Academy Award. The TubesDate: Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 The Tubes bring a rockin' and exciting performance to the South Shore Room at Harrah's, Saturday, February 2. The Tubes are perhaps best-known for epitomizing the hilarity of popular American culture, and making it into a theatrical stage parody and rock 'n roll extravaganza. They were one of the pioneers of the rock video years before MTV became a household name. They ridiculed the American materialistic values, superficial advertising methods and poked fun at religious fundamentalists and often questioned sexual taboos. They took popular culture, made fun of it and turned it into entertainment. Their concerts featured the ever-versatile Fee Waybill adopting a variety of larger-than-life personas ranging from the crippled Dr. Strangekiss, country singer Hugh Heifer, and his most infamous character, the legendary Quay Lewd - an androgynous drug-inflicted British pop-star sporting an outrageous Ziggy Stardust blonde wig and two foot high platform boots. The Tubes have always managed to expose, enlighten and entertain audiences worldwide by combining art with trash comedy, and innovative rock theater with consummate musicianship. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1975. The critically acclaimed album contained the classic tracks "White Punks on Dope," "Mondo Bondage" and "What Do You Want From Life." It was followed by the album Young and Rich which featured the songs "Don't Touch Me There" and "Slipped My Disco." Both albums introduced audiences to some of the most scathing satirical songs that ridiculed the hypocrisy of America. Some other known tracks include "Don't Want to Wait Anymore" and "She's A Beauty". The later reached the Top Ten on the American Charts and pushed their album Outside/Inside into the Top 20 on the album charts. Bryan AdamsDate: Saturday, February 16th & February 17th, 2008 Canadian rock singer, guitarist and songwriter Bryan Adams takes the stage President's Weekend at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, February 16 and 17. At the age of 18, Adams sent a few demos to A&M Records in Toronto, and was signed to them not long after. His self-titled, debut album was released in 1980 and marked the beginning of what was to be a long songwriting relationship between Adams and co-writer Jimmy Vallance. During the '80s Adams and Vallance co-wrote a number of songs for Vallance's band Prism. Among these were "Don't Let Him Know," which turned out to be Prism's only Top 40 hit, but the first of many for Adams. Adams second album You Want It, You Got It, was recorded in New York in two weeks and contained the hit "Lonely Nights." It wasn't until his third album Cuts Like A Knife in 1983, that he broke through with four hits, most notably the title track. Reckless was released in 1984, reached #1 on the Billboard Album Chart and spawned no fewer than six hit singles including "Run To You," "Summer of '69" and Adam's first single "Heaven." The album has since been certified five times Platinum in the US. One of Adams' most successful albums Waking up the Neighbours was co-produced with Robert Lange. Released in 1991, it featured the single "(Everything I do) I Do It For You," which was also used in the film "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" starring Kevin Costner and Alan Rickman. The album and the single went to number one in many countries between '91 and '92, with the single spending record-breaking 16 weeks at number one on UK Singles Charts and 17 weeks on the top of US Hot Singles Sales. It also earned Adams a Grammy for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or for Television category for co-writing it. Other hit singles included "Please Forgive Me" from his album So Far So Good that was released in 1993, which has also been certified five time Platinum in the US. Later that same year he recorded his next number one single "All for Love" together with Sting and Rod Stewart, for the film Three Musketeers. Adams continues his work in film soundtracks, most recently with the hit movie The Guardian, starring Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher. He also co-wrote the song "Never Gonna Break My Faith" for the film Bobby, which was sung by Aretha Franklin and Mary J. Blige. This work earned him a Golden Globe Nomination in 2007. He continues to tour successfully and is working on the release of another album planned for 2008.
